To prevent rot all joints have distancers. Rain can enter, but it can dry in dry times. Extra strength is derived from four tension cables, meeting eachother in the exact center of the cube.

Scene 5 – Working with master Mitko, my neighbour, on the house. I started to make a cube of 12 beams, prepared by Mitko, from local wood. He has the most beautiful saw mill of Europe, it is my conviction. Kosnitza Vulcano nicely lit by the evening sun.

Scene 4 – two French artist were residents in september: @florent_poussineau and @vincent_terranova_ . They produced recipies, stories in a riso printed booklet: Citoyens du Monde. The presented their results in #avrtikl.bookshop in Sofia. They left a lot of good , tangible memories in the house too. Here are a few: some extra forks, knives and spoons, a shitting aid and a new shower (holes in a cup with which you scope the water over yourself. Bernd Koggel, verbleef in Pop Art House Osenovlag in mei 2023. Hij deed de volgende observaties.

In Bulgarije, in een klein dorp, Osenovlag, viel iets interessants op. Tenminste voor een stedeling. In het kleine dorpje met maar pakweg tachtig menselijke inwoners, is een bruisend sociaal leven aan de gang. Voor de deur van het enige winkeltje kun je heel de dag bewoners van omliggende huizen tegenkomen en gedag zeggen (veel verder dan “gedag” kwam ik niet in het Bulgaars). Veel van hen drinken de dag weg en voegen daar eten aan toe om het te doen smaken.
Echt spannend is het in het dorp niet en ik kan mij voorstellen dat het saai kan worden. Toch valt op dat de dagen wel samen worden besteed, pratend voor de winkeldeur. Lachend aan de eettafel. Of gewoon op straat bij het passeren. Het bruisende sociale leven dat ik associeerde met de stad, blijkt hier in een vergelijkbare vorm net zo aanwezig. We zoeken allemaal sociale netwerken.
Pop Art House is hier de visualisatie van. Het project van Jos Bregman om mensen een houvast te bieden voor een ander sociaal netwerk. Een netwerk van mensen uit alle windstreken die ooit geland zijn in dit huis of misschien alleen door een reiziger van het huis ontmoet zijn. Zo breidt het zich ook steeds uit.
De wegwijzer, bij de wegkruising onder het huis, visualiseert dit netwerk heel direct. Bewoners van het huis kunnen hier hun wegwijsbordje aan toevoegen, zo krijgt het uitdijende netwerk een tastbare en zichtbare vorm.

Verbonden. Natuur. In de natuur weet ieder dier en iedere plant z’n plek, precies wat hij of zij te doen heeft. Vrij van twijfel, haasten of altijd ‘te kort schieten’. Wil je leren van de natuur om dit in je dagelijks leven in te zetten om rust en beweging te krijgen in waar je nu mee bezig bent. Kom dan naar de dag Boom & Paard. We gaan in een systemische opstelling met paarden kijken naar wat er in jou speelt en dit verbinden we met wat we van bomen kunnen leren. Vrijdag 8 mrt 2024 in Loosdrecht.

Levensvragen zijn de grote vragen van het leven. We stellen je vragen op, met elkaar, met een paard en een boom. Anne vertaalt de boodschap van het paard, Jos die van de boom. Paarden zijn een kompas voor de antwoorden die al in je zelf zitten. Bomen geven je vaste grond onder de voeten. Bomen zijn geworteld in de tijd van je voorouders. Na de opstelling laten we je handen spreken: je verwerkt je antwoorden in een geschiedenisschijf van een boom, met zorg geoogst uit Het Groot Nederlands Stadsbos.

“My name is Jos Bregman aka Wdwrd. I am a performer. BOOMBOM is my social sculpture of remixing trees, harvested from The Greater Dutch Urban Forest (TGDUF). TGDUF is one of my performances. With TGDUF I am making a statement: ‘We don’t live in a city with trees, but in a forest with buildings and roads. We make sure trees in this forest can grow old. If you take care of the forest as a whole, you may also harvest from it. My care for the forest as a whole starts with giving it a name: TGDUF. Once something has a name, people start to treat it differently. You can find an oversight of my remixed trees on BOOMBOM.nl.

My care is also much more concrete: under the name BOOMBUTLER I help people take care of their trees in their gardens. Taking care of trees means taking care of the soil they are rooted in, and pointing out every tree’s role in TGDUF – boombutler.nl

Dutch cities produce a lot of ‘woody biomass’: half of the yearly production – in 2021: around 700.000 tons – of the Netherlands comes from cities. (17% came from agroforestry, 30% came from forest owners like SBB.) A lot of this woody biomass goes to low value uses like biomass for electricity plants. My work is innovative, finding ways  for high value purposes in a local economy, including scale up possibilities. We are talking about 35.000 trucks of urban wood every year.

With BOOMBOM I remix ‘token’ trees, trees that can show the way to (or rather: are) a new art form embedded in a new local economy. An economy that starts using the trucks of wood that now leave the city anonymously. My remix starts by looking at the tree before its harvest, getting to know the audience. I give every tree a name. My audience is the people that know the tree. One reference project is BEUK327.nl.  Another one is BOOMBOM2022.nl. In Almere I am chairing a working group with municipality, architect, lectors and students to integrate city wood into the new building of Windesheim School in Almere planned for 2026.
