Act 1 (Sunday): Arrival at Sofia airport. Welcome by Georgi Valiavicharski, fluent in English. Traditional bulgarian dinner at Georgi’s house in Prodanovtsi, a one hour drive. Stroll through his mothers vegetable garden. Night in nearby Samokov.
Act 2 (Monday) – Breakfast in the mountains. Georgi will start the story, telling about the Thracians, wine, food, customs and traditions, about life in the highest area on the Balkan peninsula in Bulgaria.
Act 3 (Tuesday ) – Trekking the highest peak on the Balkans, wheather permitting – Musala (2925 m.) The Thracians went to Musala to pray. This includes the use of chairlifts and has a total of some five hours relaxed walking. We end up staying the night in Europe’s hottest outdoor spa with mineral/curative springs.
Act 4 ( Wednesday) – Visit Rila monastery (Gold medal winner of UNESCO on the Balkan peninsula ) and the bee keepers of the mountain. Leisurely mountain hike with picknick. Dinner at a local restaurant with balkan trout and bulgarian buffalo yogurt. Transfer to hotel – winery – vineyards in mountainous Brestovitsa
Act 5 (Thursday) – No travelling day. Relax, hike or go to cultural Plovdiv. Night in Brestovitsa
Act 6 (Friday) – Transfer to Kazanlak, base of the rose festival. Lunch in Starosel, with thracian monument and hot springs. Visit organic rose yard and rose oil distillery.
Act 7 (Saturday ) – Nature Access Festival day: Roses – touch the nature of Bulgaria – visit organic rose yard and rose oil distillery
Act 8 (Sunday) – After breakfast transfer to Sofia and departure to Holland.
